Glasses, 2009

17,5 x 5,7 x 16,5 cm
2 prism kaleidoscopes, glasses frame, brass, aluminum, rubber ring, rubber tube

Two small prism kaleidoscopes from a toy store were modified so that the two prisms can rotate on a frame of glasses with the help of a small crank. Due to its fragile, handmade construction, these kaleidoscope glasses are reminiscent of optical geodesic and astronomical measuring instruments from the 19th century.
Although it is basically a design object, the main attraction is that the viewer can imagine how the glasses work, similar to the works of Panamarenko.

Many thanks to Jakob Scheid for his helpful advice.
