The ‘Mobile Waste Drawer’ was originally built for my apartment as a custom
kitchen drawer with a practical holder for trash bags. The base of the waste
drawer is a right-angled trapezoid, the front of which has an angle of 100
degrees and 80 degrees to the parallel sides, thereby compensating for the
different depths of the stove and kitchen counter. Basically, the entire
appearance - that is, the white-coated front with corresponding height, as well
as the chrome handle - is specially adapted to the rest of the kitchen
furniture.
However, a few weeks after the waste drawer was already doing its job in
the kitchen, it was given another makeover. The object sculpture class had
decided to park three cars in the exhibition space of the Semperdepot during
the Rundgang at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. This specific exhibition
situation was the trigger to add a few small details to my kitchen drawer, such
as two dark blue stripes, a trash can pictogram, a radiator grill on the front,
a Wunder-Baum® with the scent "New Car" with an obligatory hose to
vent the exhaust gases and a discrete rear spoiler at the back.
