Sleepy Hollu, 2009

25 x 25 x 100 cm,
detergent can, cardboard lid, motor oil barrel, model railway lawn, two hiking maps from Zirl

During the course of our sculpture class study trip, with a planned group exhibition in Zirl in Tyrol, I found, to my great surprise, that of all places the headquarters of a detergent manufacturer for wholesale customers is located in this small town. When I recently visited Hollu for research purposes, to my luck they actually provided an empty 'Hollubunt' detergent can with 18kg capacity.
Since the detergent can was still missing something for artistic work, I purchased hiking maps from the tourist office in Zirl, which I pasted as a 360-degree panorama on the
inside of the empty detergent can. In search of a suitable pedestal, I finally found an empty motor oil barrel, which was given to me by a farmer from Zirl. As it turned out, the motor oil barrel not only fits for formal reasons but also in terms of content, as the combination of detergent and motor oil creates an interesting contrast.

Many thanks to the company Hollu from Zirl for the empty washing powder box and to the farmer from Zirl for the empty motor oil barrel.
