Marionette, 2006
The shape of this marionette was determined almost exclusively by its function. The size of the mouse wheels served as a basis from which the size of all other parts could be derived.
The two gears inside allow the marionette to show a new picture only whenever the marionette player opens one of the marionette's 'eyelids'. In total, there are 16 different international TV test images on the two mouse wheels, which can be shown as often as desired by repeatedly turning to the next image.

A characteristic of marionette play is that the marionette and the marionette player influence each other. The marionette has to do what the player wants. But also vice versa, the marionette player's freedom of action is strongly limited by the way the marionette has to be operated. A similar relationship exists between the television viewer and the television program. With the help of the remote control, the television viewer apparently has control over the television program. Conversely, however, the television viewer is also subjected to the will of the television program.
